Wellness, a sector recruiting massively all over France

Press release - October 2023
Despite a fragile economic environment, the wellness sector appears relatively unaffected. Indeed, following a slight drop occurring during the pandemic, the sector is picking up again, and has even posted an improvement of close to 13.1 in 20231.  These encouraging figures indicate a promising future for this segment, particularly in franchising. More than 20 brands will furthermore be exhibiting at Franchise Expo Paris from 16 to 18 March next year!

Wellness, a sector in good health

In 2023, the wellness sector, which encompasses personal health, beauty and fitness, is doing well and confirming its place in the hearts of the French population. In the wake of the public health crisis, French people quickly returned to their previous habits, more acutely in the perfume and makeup segments. Furthermore, 57% of French people say that they intend to spend the same amount on this category in spite of sharp price rises among its products. This trend has furthermore been confirmed by the sector which in 2022 registered 6,655 franchises (compared with 6,418 in 2021) generating total revenue of 2.2 billion euros2. This is a surefire signal for all entrepreneurs who are still hesitating about launching their business in the wellness area.

Franchising, an asset for the wellness sector

Franchising has been around for many years and has proven track record for the solidity of its business model. As a “turnkey” format, it makes business creation much easier and offers many benefits to franchisees: quick and smooth start-up, lower risk from a financial perspective, easier customer acquisition, supervision and support throughout the project with an array of training courses available. A range of highly persuasive assets for anyone interested in doing business in the wellness sector.

Franchise Expo Paris, a springboard for the sector’s businesses

As the unmissable event for franchising and entrepreneurship in France and abroad, the exhibition Franchise Expo Paris is a true crossroads for encounters and discussion between expanding brands and people wishing to launch their business. Every year, nearly 500 brands covering 90 sectors of activity (as wide and varied as building, automotive, fitness-beauty-wellness, hotels, hospitality and childcare) come together to exchange, recruit and develop.

The year, the show will be back from 16 to 18 March 2024 at Paris Porte de Versailles with an extensive programme of talks, workshops and round tables. It is a must-attend event for the beauty sector, which will be well-represented on site, with around 20 brands already registered to exhibit.

About the French Franchising Federation

A major player in the dynamism of the French economy, the French Franchising Federation is the professional federation of franchisors and their franchisees since 1971. It represents the franchising model, a model of entrepreneurship based on the transfer of know-how and the sharing of value. Its role is to promote, defend and perpetuate the franchise model, but also to federate its ecosystem and create the tools and the environment for the development and performance of franchise networks. In 1981, the French Franchise Federation created the
Franchise Expo Paris exhibition, which has since become a major annual international franchising event. In France, franchising accounts for 1,972 networks, 84,497 franchised outlets, for a turnover of more than
76.6 billion euros. The activity generates 828,178 jobs (direct and indirect). In 2009, the FFF created the Acadélmie de la Franchise, the first training organisation for franchising professions, whose services are aimed at future franchisees, but also to future and current franchisors.
