Franchise Expo Paris 2025: the fast-growing services sector

Press release - December 2024
In light of the growing importance of two leading issues - an ever-ageing population and the pursuit of a better work-life balance -, the personal and business services sector is beginning to become a key driver in the French economy. From 15 to 17 March 2025, Franchise Expo Paris at Porte de Versailles offers the chance to discover a significant number of these booming brands and chains.

Personal services, the number 1 sector for franchising results (1)

As one of the most substantial sectors of the French economy, personal services encompass a wide array of activities to meet all the needs of the population: home removals, storage, passenger transport, financial services, asset management, home help, child-minding, undertaking services, repairs, sports facilities, leisure and insurance broking (a new segment at Franchise Expo Paris 2025).

In 2023 in France, this sector recorded the highest growth in terms of franchising, reporting excellent results through its 10,070 points of sale (+40.9% compared with 2022), its 277 chains (+34.5%) or its 20 billion euros of turnover (+45.6%).(1)

Demand for these services is driven predominantly by the phenomenon of population ageing. In 2023, more than 18.6 million people were over the age of 60, a figure expected to rise to 20.8 million by 2030.(2) This growth, added to the desire of elderly people to keep living in their own homes, serves to highlight the growth potential of the home help market.

Focus on the health club business:

Included under the personal services heading, health clubs are seeing particularly brisk growth: demand is continuing to rise, and nearly half of all 18-34-year-olds had visited a fitness facility of this type in 2022.(3) With just over 20 chains signed up so far for Franchise Expo Paris 2025, a new record will be set for the representation of this category at the show.

The business service sector, the perfect way to start out with a moderate budget

The business service sector is also displaying a healthy trend. In 2023, there were 2,945 points franchised outlets in this area, generating more than 1.6 billion euros in sales.(1) This key sector, which is also growing fast, offers strategic and operational solutions in a wide range of areas including corporate cleaning services, technical maintenance or human resource management.

At Franchise Expo Paris, the areas of expertise covered by this sector include recruitment, outsourced enterprise management (human resources, accounts, legal), logistics (delivery, sorting, cleaning and maintenance), financing broking, senior executive coaching and training, and communication (signage, printing, 3D, etc.). In 2025, the show will be welcoming new technology-specialising gems (software integration, IT managed services, cybersecurity, etc.) and also an outsourced works council.

The franchising model is proving to be particularly appropriate for this sector, especially for budding businesspeople looking to start out with a relatively low investment outlay. Many brands and chains offer activities that can be conducted remotely, offering the chance to reduce structural costs thanks to lesser need for costly premises or equipment. The liquid capital requirement can be as low as €20,000, which generally includes initial costs such as the franchise fee, equipment, office fittings, launch communications and working capital.(4)

Franchise Expo Paris, the perfect place to find all your answers

According to a survey conducted by OpinionWay for the French Franchising Federation, two out of three employees (66%) said they were considering a career change, and more than a third of working French people (37%) have already considered becoming their own boss. Franchising represents an excellent way to start one’s own business, in a secure framework thanks to a week established model that includes tools, training, continuous support, but one that is also challenging and stimulating.

Franchise Expo Paris is the ideal place to meet franchisers and franchisees who will come to share their experience, but also investors. With more than 600 exhibitors from 90 different areas of activity, and the opportunity to choose from more than 150 talks and workshops, the show is the unavoidable event in franchising and small business in France and abroad.

The 2025 edition has already lined up specialised talks covering the service sector. These will be held in the pitch forum located in the retail and personal and business service sector.

  • Saturday 15 March at 2.10 pm, “Dependence, child-minding, micro-creches, home help… What are the best performing personal service markets?”
  • Sunday 16 March at 2.10 pm, “Business services: an atypical and little-known market, but offering excellent business opportunities!”
  • Sunday 16 March at 12.00 pm, “Fitness: a sector boosted by new features”
  • Monday 17 March at 2.10 pm, “What profile of entrepreneur to be successful in personal services?”
The exhibition showcases more than 60 brands in the services sector, thereby offering a huge reservoir of opportunities to all future franchisees looking to start out in this high-potential area.

About the French Franchising Federation

A major player in the dynamism of the French economy, the French Franchising Federation is the professional federation of franchisors and their franchisees since 1971. It represents the franchising model, a model of entrepreneurship based on the transfer of know-how and the sharing of value. Its role is to promote, defend and perpetuate the franchise model, but also to federate its ecosystem and create the tools and the environment for the development and performance of franchise networks. In 1981, the French Franchise Federation created the Franchise Expo Paris exhibition, which has since become a major annual international franchising event.
In France, franchising accounts for 1,972 networks, 84,497 franchised outlets, for a turnover of more than 76.6 billion euros. The activity generates 828,178 jobs (direct and indirect). In 2009, the FFF created the Acadélmie de la Franchise, the first training organisation for franchising professions, whose services are aimed at future franchisees, but also to future and current franchisors.
